Wagyu Dams

The importance of good dams is often overlooked, but temperament, maternal instincts, and marbling are just a few of the traits they bring to a well rounded herd. At 1862 Ranch we understand the importance of their contributions towards both productivity and profitability, and we’re proud to introduce you to a few of our favorite ladies.

UKB MS Shigemaru 803

Red Wagyu
Registration Number: FB12108
Date of Birth: November 5, 2008
Sire: Shigemaru
Dam: JVP Ms Homare Hikari
When you’re talking about “foundation” genetics, it doesn’t get better than this dam. She’s a daughter of Shigemaru who is one generation out of Japan, and her dam out of the well known Homare Hikari line means she brings a great temperament, fertility, and carcass quality that benefits her calves. She’s great for balancing out the size of bigger, weightier bulls that may not marble quite as well and as a Red Wagyu, she adds milking ability and maternal instincts.
